Hear more about our newest project -Fishstock Music Festival - on MooseFM tonight

We're on the airwaves again tonight talking about the latest project - the Fishstock Music Festival taking place in Haliburton on August 13 2011. Tune into MooseFM 93.5 in Haliburton starting at 6pm to hear more. You can also listen on-line.
The event was created to help raise funds for community groups (including the host organization -Haliburton Fish Hatchery) that need the revenue and exposure and to do our part to support the local community. The rationale is that providing food to people who need it is important but you also have to create the opportunities to help break the cycle of poverty. Think of it as the teaching a man to fish part of the equation. The community groups we partner with all have various programs that support the short or long term needs of people trying to get out of the cycle of poverty.

This is the first in a series of festivals taking place in the next few years that will have two primary objectives:
  1. Provide an economic benefit to the community that will help stabilize or increase local employment levels.
  2. Provide an opportunity for local non-profit agencies to raise funds for their community initiatives
The Fishstock Music Festival is a one day event featuring eight bands (including the Legendary Downchild Blues Band and the Partland Brothers), food and beverage area run by our community partners, silent auction, tours and more.

Please support this event by buying a ticket, volunteer or become a sponsor. Visit the Fishstock web page for more details.
